Twelve Students Receive Student Volunteer Award from Scholarship America
We are excited to recognize the most outstanding student volunteers from across the country with our Student Volunteer Award recipients.
This award was open to all Dollars for Scholars high school seniors with profiles in ChapterNet who had at least a 2.50 GPA and completed a minimum of 1,000 total hours of volunteering in the last four years.
Caitlin George is the recipient of the National Student Volunteer Award, and will receive a four-year renewable award totaling $4,000. To read more about Caitlin, click here.
The annual archive took place on September 1, 2020 and we are now in Scholarship Year 2020-2021. An outline of the archiving process can be found in Affiliate Resources.
A few tips to help you start the new scholarship year:
Review the ChapterNet Enhancement Guide in Affiliate Resources to see what’s new.
Log into ChapterNet to familiarize yourself the new layout and navigation.
Advance your 2020 scholarships to 2021, and make any necessary updates (Training Video).
Update your board roster with new board members, or those who have completed their term (Training Video).
Update your User Security Profiles in ChapterNet to reflect current roles of board members (Training Video).
#GivingTuesday – December 1, 2020
#GivingTuesday is a global celebration of giving and an opportunity for your Dollars for Scholars to participate and raise funds for students. As you begin planning for this upcoming scholarship year, here are some ways to get involved in the national day of philanthropic giving:
Email your supporters, friends and relatives. Start with who you know, and from there expand your reach. Email templates are available in Affiliate Resources.
Share Student Stories on Social Media. Stay active on your social media channels leading up to #GivingTuesday and throughout the day; incorporate messaging on your goals and impact of the money raised. Images and #GivingTuesday logos are available to download in the Dollars for Scholars Marketing Hub. Sample social posts to use with the images is available in Affiliate Resources.
Drive traffic to your online donation page. View the online donation guide in Affiliate Resources for ways to drive traffic to your online donation page and make sure information is up to date. In preparation for #GivingTuesday, you may want to check out Give Lively and their additional free tools to enhance your fundraising efforts.
Use the official Giving Tuesday toolkit. This is a detailed guide that outlines key messaging to use in the months, weeks and days leading up to December 1; including tips and ideas to help launch your #GivingTuesday initiative.

Dr. Irving Fradkin Legacy Award - Nominations Due Sept. 30
The Dr. Irving Fradkin Legacy Award is a $10,000 award, presented to one Dollars for Scholars that best exemplifies two vital principles on behalf of students:
Building and expanding community partnerships
Delivering impactful student support
To be eligible your Dollars for Scholars must also meet basic operational standards, employ best practices and be fully compliant with all Dollars for Scholars affiliation agreement standards and policies.
To nominate your Dollars for Scholars, please complete and submit the nomination form, found in Affiliate Resourcesby September 30, 2020. You can contact your Engagement Director or the Support Team with questions.
