What is the grant and what can it cover?
This emergency aid grant will provide $500 to students to help cover unexpected financial emergencies as a result of Hurricane Helene and/or Hurricane Milton, which may impact their ability to stay enrolled in school.
The program is funded by a grant from Target and administered by Scholarship America.
Please note: we will do our best to support financial emergencies related to students’ most urgent needs, but we may not be able to support all requests.
Am I eligible?
You are eligible if you meet ALL of the following:
- You are a current student enrolled part-time or full-time
- You are a resident of North Carolina or Florida
- You are able to demonstrate financial need
- You have unexpected financial difficulties related to Hurricane Helene or Hurricane Milton which may impact enrollment in school
- You are able to upload a course schedule to verify enrollment
- You are able to upload documentation of an eligible expense

- Housing/Rent/Utilities
- Medical/Dental
- Childcare
- Transportation/Car Repair (not gas or insurance)
- Food/Groceries
- Public Transportation/Travel
